DESCRIPTION:About the workshop:\nPhotolithography is a technique perfect for anyone interested in photography or drawing in printmaking. This course will cover a range of possibilities to transform photographs\, digital creations\, or drawn material into richly detailed lithographs. Participants will learn to process a photosensitive plate\, exposing it to light to develop a printable image. \nThis course is suitable for all levels with no prior experience needed. \nWhat you’ll learn: ​​​​\n\nHow to prepare a photographic file for lithography printing in photoshop\nHow to make drawings that will expose for photolithography plates\nHow to develop a photolithography plate\nHow to prepare paper for registration\nHow to print a photolithograph plate properly using the press\n\n\nAbout the instructor:\nJamie-Lee Girodat completed a Bachelor of Fine Arts at the University of Lethbridge and a Master of Fine Arts in Printmaking at the University of Alberta. Her interest in genetic history\, health\, and ethics informs her practice in print media\, drawing\, and animation. SUMMARY:Pump Up the Volume
DESCRIPTION:About the workshop:\nHalftones – who needs ‘em!? Instead\, build your silkscreening know-how to create depth without using digital processes. \nThis workshop will cover a very brief refresher of the silkscreen process (such as coating and exposing your screen\, as well as registering and pulling your prints) before diving deep into hand-drawing and exposure techniques to help define volume in print. \nSkills learned will include creating stencils with rubylith (a specialized film used for various printing techniques)\, as well as developing tone through posterization – a process where you layer multiple exposures of hand-drawn stencils to create volume in your printed imagery. \nPlease note\, this course is intended for participants with a base-knowledge and some experience with screen printing who want to take their skills to the next step. This is an excellent follow up to our Intro to Screen Printing workshop\, or if you’re looking for a refresher after learning silkscreen basics in the past.  \nWhat you’ll learn: ​​​​\n\nA brief refresher of the screen printing process\nAdvanced drawing techniques for silkscreen\nBuilding layers using rubylith film\nUsing floating stencils of newsprint to block out areas while printing\nPosterization through combining multiple exposures of the same image\n\n\nAbout the instructor:\nJamie-Lee Girodat completed a Bachelor of Fine Arts at the University of Lethbridge and a Master of Fine Arts in Printmaking at the University of Alberta.
