Membership is not requirement for all volunteer positions, however it is required for some, such as positions that involve working within the A/P Studio or positions that are public facing with the organization.

Printing Experience

Printmaking experience isn't required for many A/P volunteer roles, but for some opportunities like helping to print fundraising swag or facilitating hands-on public activities, it's good for us to know what print skills you may have.

Other types of skills and experience

There are a range of ways that volunteers contribute to the organization beyond printmaking.

Volunteer Opportunities that provide ongoing long-term support (1-2+ years)

A/P is always seeking keen collaborative folks with an interest in joining the Board of Directors and/or one of our committees that help to steer and support key A/P programs and activities. Current Committees include: Gallery Committee, Studio Committee, and Special Events Committee These positions require ongoing contributions and regular team meetings throughout the year.

About the Board of Directors

The Board provides input and guidance for the everyday operations of the organization. The Board meets once a month and has a variety of projects requiring offsite and onsite volunteer work. Some Board positions require previous board experience and/or specialized skills (i.e., leadership, accounting/finance, etc.), but others don't, making it a good opportunity to gain board-related skills. Commitment: 2 Year Terms; approximately 2-10 hours/month

About the Gallery Committee

The Gallery Committee is responsible for overseeing the A/P Main Gallery operations and processes including calls for submission, coordinating adjudication procedures, communicating with exhibiting artists, installing/striking exhibitions, etc. Some experience is an asset, but not a requirement and this can be a great way to learn. Commitment: Approximately 2-3 committee meetings/year, not including ongoing gallery maintenance and exhibition support, which is approximately 4-8 hours every 2-4 months.

About the Studio Committee

The Studio Committee is responsible for overseeing the forward-planning of the A/P Studio Facility, including working collaboratively with A/P staff to generate short and long term goals, and to support goal attainment. This may include budget-planning, equipment acquisition, contributing to space-improvements, etc. Some experience is an asset, but not a requirement and this can be a great way to learn. Commitment: Approximately 2-3 committee meetings/year, not including possible hands-on work contributing to facility improvements, which is approximately 4-8 hours every 4-6 months.

About the Special Events Committee

The Special Events Committee is responsible for helping to plan and carry out some of A/P's super fun events such as fundraisers, public engagement print activities, print exchanges, and markets! Due to the nature of this work and the scheduling of event, time commitment varies throughout the year. As a result, this committee has some built-in flexibility where members may be involved in some event more, and some less, depending on their availability. Some experience is an asset, but not a requirement and this can be a great way to learn. Commitment: Approximately 2-3 committee meetings for one (or more) event, not including possible hands-on work contributing directly to preparing for, setting up, and carrying out any given event.

Casual Volunteer Opportunities where A/P reaches out intermittently for folks to help out

There are so many ways to help out throughout the year that are casual. These opportunities provide flexibility with your schedule, skillsets and interests, and capacity for time commitments.
