About the Exhibition
Exploring the intersections between atmosphere and memory, this series of work, Sisters Series, focuses on photography as a tangible piece of nostalgia.
The images are an opportunity to explore your own memories and reframe them within the boundaries of the alien-like and haunting landscape of the English coast. The bleak images on expired film are also an introspective peek into my own early memories of photography. An unidentified woman is a solo wanderer inside trying to capture her own memories with a phone. Therefore, the images also juxtapose the idea of memory creation with digital media.
Artist Bio: Elyse Bouvier is a Calgary based photographer who received her BComn. from Mount Royal University in 2011. Having recently returned from living abroad in London, UK, Elyse has worked as a travel, portrait, coffee, and film photographer extensively in Canada, the UK, and much of Europe.
