Print(ed) Word

Print(ed) Word is a collection of artist books that were created through pairing 12 local writers with 12 local print-artists who collaborated in reimagining existing texts into hand-made book forms. 

This project was led by A/P and Loft 112 with funding support from Canada Council for the Arts. The permanent installation in Calgary's Central Library was made possible through the support of Calgary Public Library, Calgary Public Library Foundation, and the J K L MacLachlan Family Foundation.

Linocut Basics

COURSE SUMMARY:
This Linocut Basics workshop will provide an introduction to linocut printmaking, covering the fundamentals of design, carving, and printing. Activities during the workshop will get students familiar with the process, while focusing on safe carving technique, image design and mark-making.

Over the course of the day, participants will develop an image, transfer and carve it into a lino block, and print a small edition of single-color prints. Students will finish the workshop with their carved block and set of original prints, along with the foundational  knowledge needed to independently continue linocut printmaking.
